This is for the Garden and Food Lovers amongst you: Discover Venetian garden culture and forgotten recipes that Lina loves cooking! Delicious and healthy recipes from a secret garden in Venice.
Lina has been a chef with a deep love for Venetian garden and spice food all of her life, specializing in seasonal Lagoon dishes flavored with herbs, blossoms and spices.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Lina was teaching chefs at Venetian grandi alberghi on Riva degli Schiavoni to cook historical Venetian recipes. In her own restaurants, Lina cooked for politicians, ambassadors, artists and two future popes – John XXIII and John Paul I.
Lina is 97 years old and loves exchanging recipes, herbs and flowers for the garden with nuns and monks from monasteries in Venice and the Lagoon, such as San Lazzaro degli Armeni and San Francesco della Vigna, and she loves exploring recipe books from the library of the San Zaccaria monastery of which she is the guardian.
